Money will rarely buy a race and it’s also impossible to win without at least something in the bank. Being a candidate means you need to be willing to ask people to invest in the effort. You must also be comfortable with the idea that you will personally be required to do a lot of work, regardless of the check you write.
Most candidates don’t embark on a run for public office because they love asking for money. In fact, that might be the biggest turnoff about launching a campaign.
